6 Key Benefits of Invisalign

Invisalign is a treatment used for straightening the teeth without metal braces. It makes use of clear aligners that contain bisphenol A (BPA)-free plastic and are approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). They cover the teeth entirely and gently pull them into their original place overtime. Since Invisalign braces are transparent, they are less noticeable when compared with metal braces. Here are some more benefits of Invisalign.

  1. Less duration
Wearing metal braces can take years to straighten the teeth. Wearing braces for such a long time can be extremely uncomfortable, not to mention it is tedious to maintain them. However, Invisalign can take as less as six months to fix your teeth without any pain or discomfort.
  2. Custom-made treatment
Invisible aligners can be custom-made, which means that there is greater control over the straightening and aligning of teeth. Invisible aligners allow adjusting teeth horizontally, vertically, and even rotationally until each tooth is fixed in its proper place.
  3. Comfort
The primary benefit of wearing invisible aligners is that they are more comfortable than traditional braces. Unlike metal braces, invisible aligners do not have sharp edges that might cut into the lips, cheek, or tongue. They carry high-quality resin attachments and have smooth edges that avoid injuries.
  4. Fewer visits to the dentist
Traditional metal braces require frequent visits to the orthodontist/dentist to make sure that they are in place. During these visits, the dentist may also remove, replace, or tighten specific brackets, and change the wire size, among others. This can mean hours of sitting on the dental chair, which can be tiresome. With Invisalign, visits to the dentist can be as few as every four to six weeks. Usually, a dentist’s appointment is required only if your Invisalign needs to be replaced.
  5. Non-invasive procedure
Traditional braces involve placing plastic pieces that can stretch the muscles in your mouth and cause pain. The same mould is used to place metal brackets and wires. Such invasive procedures can even make your cheeks sore. Invisalign does not use invasive measures to rectify or align teeth. They use 3D scanning technology to scan the teeth. These scans are then taken to a 3D printing machine that helps create customized moulds.
  6. Better dental hygiene
One of the other benefits of Invisalign is that it allows you to take better care of your teeth. Wearing traditional braces can result in food getting stuck around the wires and brackets, making it more difficult to clean them. Not cleaning them properly can lead to bacterial infections, gum diseases, and even tooth decay. Invisalign’s aligners, on the other hand, are completely removable, allowing you to follow your normal dental routine. The aligner itself be cleaned more precisely, making sure no food residue is stuck inside. This also allows you to consume your favorite foods and beverages more freely.
